The Bitterroot Water Partnership (formerly the Bitter Root Water Forum) and Bitterroot Audubon would like to invite our community to join us at Lee Metcalf NWR for a Trails and Tributaries Birding Hike on Saturday, August 26th. Join Bill and Becky Peters and Rachel Jensen for a relaxing walk from 10:00 to 1:00. We'll be on the flat Kenai Nature trails, near the Visitor Center, and by the nearby ponds for about 1+ miles. Then, we'll drive over to the flat Wildlife Viewing trail near the river and walk about another mile. (Birders don't cover a lot of ground quickly!) These routes are wonderful for grandparents and kids. If you have never been birding at the Metcalf Refuge, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a try! Bill will be carrying a scope for us to get a closer look at birds that we see ( if they sit still long enough!) We'll talk about binoculars if you've never used them, go over the characteristics of some of the birds we hear and see, and discover the importance of the ponds and Bitterroot River to our avian friends.
Participant limit: 10-12
